i) MAHINDRA INTERNATIONAL SQUASH 1993-1997; MUMBAI, INDIA
India's first International Squash Event brought together eight squash Masters to battle in The Thunderdome.
Procam International gave Mumbai the only open-air squash venue in the world. The invitational event offered USD 55,000 as prize money and triggered a squash saga that will surely go down in the annals of Indian sport.
Spring-boarding off the successful 1993 series, Procam International made a bid to have the first official Professional Squash Association sanctioned Super Series Squash Tournament in India. This 32-man draw event carried USD 75,000 as prize money plus a USD 10,000 hospitality bonus, to make it the fifth largest international event.
In its third year of conduction, the event grew to be the second biggest event outside the World Open. Furthermore, the players themselves voted the 1995 series as the best Squash Tournament on the circuit. By 1996 and 1997, the event had achieved even greater heights.
ii) THE MAHINDRA WORLD OPEN 1998; DOHA, QATAR
Extraordinary circumstances warrant extraordinary solutions. The fact that Procam International promoted the Mahindra World Open in Qatar is testament to the will, determination and spirit of sportsmanship manifest by those who helped organise the event.
The World Open of Squash came to a successful close at the Al Khalifa Tennis & Squash Complex Doha, Qatar on Saturday, 5th December 1998. The tournament offered USD 175,000 as prize money and was the richest and the largest World Open in the history of the game. Procam International is the only private company in India to own and promote a World Cup of any sport.
