Mr. P. N. Sankaran is India's most respected sports administrator, having contributed immensely to the field. Sankaran has served the Basketball Federation for 33 years in various capacities. He was nominated to the International Basketball Federation Technical Commission and has the distinction of bringing The Harlem Globe Trotters to the country, and it was one of the first professional teams to tour India.
This multi-faceted man was the Vice President of the Amateur Athletics Federation of India for eight years and played a stellar role during the Asian Athletics Meet and the Asian Games in New Delhi in 1982. He has also been a FIFA guest to three World Cup Football Championships. He was the coordinator for the South African Cricket team during the Hero Honda Cup and was also the coordinator for the West Indies team during the 1996 Cricket World Cup played in the sub continent. As the Secretary of the Steel Plants Sports Board, Sankaran was nominated as a member of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
